Layer visibility settings keep resetting on my new project file

I'm working on a commercial buildout in Portland and every time I reopen my drawing, the layer visibility defaults back to showing everything. It's messing up my xref workflow because I have to hide structural layers again each time. Has anyone figured out a fix for this in CAD or is it a known bug with the current update?

Oh actually that's not exactly a bug with the current update, I mean it could be but it's more of a saved state thing. You have to make sure your layer states are saved properly in the drawing, not just hidden visually. In the Layer Properties Manager there's a button for Layer States, you click that and save your current visibility settings as a named state. Then when you reopen the file you can restore that state from the dropdown. Also check if your xref layers are set to "Lock" or "Frozen" in the viewport, sometimes they reset if you haven't set the VP Freeze correctly. I had this issue on a project last year and it was because I was toggling visibility on the xref's layers instead of the host drawing's layer properties, which doesn't stick. Hope that helps, it's a pain when it keeps resetting.

Did you try freezing the xref layers in the viewport instead of just turning them off?
