I used to skip the pre-check until a job went sideways
I always rushed through my initial drawing checks to meet tight deadlines. Then a structural detail I missed forced a full rework and pushed the project back a week. Now I build in a solid block of time just for reviewing my own work before anyone else sees it. That extra pause catches silly mistakes and actually keeps things on schedule.

A full week rework is rough, I feel that. Your new system is smart, but I have to say it doesn't always fix the core problem. Sometimes the original deadline is just too crazy from the start, and no amount of personal review time can catch everything. You still need someone else to look at it with fresh eyes eventually. Building in your own check is a great first step, but it shouldn't be the only safety net.

After tracking my own review time for six months, I found that catching my own mistakes got a lot easier. @rubys42, I get your point about fresh eyes, but in fast paced work, waiting for someone else can create more delays. If the initial deadline is realistic, a thorough personal check often is enough. Building that discipline saves more time than adding another review layer.
