A senior drafter told me to stop over-dimensioning everything and it saved me hours
Had a guy named Dave at my shop in Columbus tell me I was adding too many decimal places to my structural details. He said "nobody needs a bolt hole toleranced to +/- 0.001 unless you're making a watch." Started rounding to 1/16 for clearance holes and cut my revision time by about 30 percent. Has anyone else had to unlearn bad habits from school?

Dave was right. School teaches you precision, experience teaches you practical.

Funny how school teaches you to be perfect and the field teaches you to be fast.
