Why does the paint at Home Depot never match the sample card
I went to the Home Depot off Main Street last weekend to grab some paint for my living room. Picked out this nice light gray from the card, had them mix it up, and when I got home it looked almost blue on the wall. I took the can back and the guy said they can't guarantee color accuracy on their samples. Has anyone else had this problem with their paint matching?

That's rough but honestly I kinda side with the store on this one. Lighting in your house is way different than the bright fluorescents they got in the paint aisle, so the color's gonna look different on your wall than on that little card. Not saying it's your fault but the sample cards are just a starting point, not a guarantee lol.

Yeah I actually just read something about this the other day. It's called metamerism or something like that where colors look totally different under different light sources. Even natural sunlight changes throughout the day so you're never gonna get an exact match to that card.
