Question about spray foam vs fiberglass for a garage ceiling

I'm working on insulating my garage ceiling this week and I'm stuck between two options. My buddy swears by spray foam, says it seals everything up tight and I won't have to worry about critters getting in. But I looked at the price tag for a DIY kit and it's like $800 for a small setup, which is way more than I wanted to drop. I'm leaning toward fiberglass batts since I can get everything for under $200 at the local Home Depot, but I worry about gaps and moisture over time. Has anyone here done a garage ceiling with fiberglass and regretted it later? Or did the spray foam really make that big a difference for you?
