Picked the wrong insulation for my attic in 2017 and still paying for it
When I reinsulated my attic near Spokane I had to choose between fiberglass batts and blown-in cellulose. I went with fiberglass because it was cheaper by about $200 at the time. Now I'm dealing with gaps settling that let heat escape every winter. Has anyone else regretted a similar insulation choice?

Wait, you went with fiberglass because it was $200 cheaper? How's that working out for you now that you're probably paying triple that in extra heating costs every winter? I've seen so many people make that same mistake and they always regret it once the first serious cold snap hits. Cellulose might cost a bit more upfront but it actually stays put and fills all those little gaps instead of letting all your warm air just float right out. Plus fiberglass settles weird over time and leaves those cold spots that drive me crazy. Hope you've got a good space heater and a thick blanket budget.

oh man that reminds me of my friend dan out in coeur d'alene. he did the same thing back in 2016, picked fiberglass batts cause they were on sale at lowes. by the second winter he had ice dams forming on his roof cause all the heat was escaping and melting the snow unevenly. ended up having to rip it all out and pay some guy 1500 bucks to do blown-in cellulose. he still gets mad about it whenever i bring up insulation.
