Hot take: Most people use too much pressure when caulking a tub

I was helping my buddy redo his bathroom in Austin last weekend and watched him squeeze out this giant messy bead of caulk. He kept saying it needed more to seal right. But I learned from a tiling video that you actually want a thin, consistent line (like 1/4 inch) and then smooth it with a wet finger. Too much pressure just makes a mess and you end up scraping half of it off anyway. Has anyone else noticed this at rental flips or am I the only one obsessed with clean bead lines?

Honestly I disagree because a thick bead prevents leaks way better than a thin line.
