Can we talk about how laminate flooring is way better than hardwood for basements

Everyone says hardwood is the only way to go for resale value but I went with laminate in my basement in Omaha after the 2019 flood. Three years in and it still looks great no warping or swelling even with occasional dampness from the sump pump. My buddy spent triple on hardwood and already has cupping near the walls. Anyone else take the cheaper route and end up happier?

Right? Hardwood in a basement is like wearing wool socks to the beach.

Oh gosh, that's such a perfect way to put it! I actually dealt with this exact thing in my last house. We ended up going with a high-end luxury vinyl plank that looks just like real wood, and honestly it's been a lifesaver. I was worried it would feel cheap or fake, but everyone who comes over asks if it's real hardwood. The best part is when our basement flooded last spring from that big storm, we just pulled up a few planks, dried everything out, and put them right back down. No damage at all.
