Shoutout to the guy at Lowe's who talked me out of a $400 tile saw
He just pointed at the $150 wet saw and said 'you're doing a 6x6 bathroom floor, not a commercial job.' That thing got me through three bathroom remodels before it finally died.

That worker did you a solid, but here's the thing nobody talks about - those big expensive saws are heavy as hell. Dragging a 80 pound wet saw up stairs and through doorways for a tiny bathroom job would have wrecked your back way worse than the cheap one ever could. Plus the little saws don't need a dedicated 20 amp circuit, you can just plug them into any outlet in the house without tripping breakers. My neighbor bought the big Ridgid saw for his master bath and spent the whole weekend cussing at his panel box. Sometimes the tool that fits the job is the one that won't make you want to quit halfway through.

Wait, didn't you used to think bigger was always better with tools? Honestly I was the same way until I borrowed my buddy's big Ridgid saw for a kitchen backsplash and nearly threw my back out hauling it up from the basement. Ngl that changed my whole perspective on buying the right size tool for small jobs, now I always think about how I'm gonna move the thing before I buy it.
