Rant: Spent $200 on a paint sprayer that turned my kitchen into a mess

I bought a HVLP sprayer from a big box store last month thinking I'd save time painting my cabinets. After 3 tries, the thing kept spitting paint blobs and clogging every 10 minutes. I ended up using a brush and roller anyway, and the cleanup took me 4 hours total. The paint job looks fine, but I wasted a whole Sunday and $200 on that sprayer. Has anyone else had better luck with a different brand, or should I just stick to rollers forever?

You found out the hard way that HVLP sprayers are basically just expensive paint blenders. $200 for the privilege of scrubbing dried latex out of a nozzle for four hours sounds like a bargain. Maybe try a turbine unit next time or just stick with the roller.

My neighbor has a $80 Wagner from Home Depot and she painted her whole fence in like two hours with zero issues. You probably just got a lemon or didn't thin the paint enough, because everyone I know who uses one swears by them.
