My neighbor said he used a 2x4 as a temporary support for a sagging porch beam for over a year.

It made me realize how often we put off a real fix with a 'good enough' solution. Has anyone else had a temporary repair that lasted way too long?

Yeah three winters is wild. I saw a thing where @the_hugo is right, the adhesive usually fails with big temp swings. Your buddy must have perfect conditions or something.
