I just redid my kitchen backsplash and learned the hard way about grout sealing.
Spent last weekend putting up a new tile backsplash. Skipped the grout sealer because the guy at the store said it wasn't necessary. Big mistake. Now every splash of tomato sauce is a permanent stain, and I'm redoing the whole thing. Seal your grout, people, or you'll regret it.

Yeah, @the_hugo nailed it with the prevention thing. I use that 511 sealer now and it works.

Isn't it crazy how many problems start with skipping one small, boring step? I mean, I see it all the time where a tiny bit of prevention gets ignored for now, and then later you're stuck with a huge fix. It's not just grout, it's like a whole way of thinking where the future cost never feels real until you're living with the stain, or the leak, or whatever. Idk, maybe it's just me but learning that lesson the hard way is practically a rite of passage.

Totally get what you're saying, but honestly I don't think it's a rite of passage for everyone. Some people just never learn, lmao. Like my neighbor who still won't seal his deck and complains about the rot every year. I saw mia_fisher76 mentioned the 511 sealer, and that stuff is good, but the real trick is just doing the boring step at all. The future cost feels super real when you're the one paying for it later.
