Caulk guns are lying to me, after 12 years I finally see it

I redid my bathroom tile last month and for some reason decided to actually read the caulk tube directions. Turns out you're supposed to cut the tip at a 45 degree angle and push, not pull the trigger like a maniac. Every single bead I ever laid was probably 3 times wider than it needed to be. My grout lines look like a 5 year old drew them, and I've been doing this since 2013. The whole time I blamed the cheap tubes but it was my technique all along. Anyone else have a basic tool they used wrong for way too long?

Took me 10 years to realize I was setting my circular saw blade depth wrong. I always had it sticking out a full inch below the wood, so every cut was rough and splintered on the bottom. Finally watched a video where a guy set it just a quarter inch deeper than the board and suddenly my cuts were clean as glass. Same with caulk, my brother-in-law showed me to cut the tip smaller than you think you need and squeeze steady, not fast. Now I do maybe two practice lines on scrap before touching the real joint.
