Warning: DIY page staining went wrong with my favorite hardback
Tried using coffee to stain the pages of my beat-up copy of Dune last weekend, and it worked great on the first 50 pages but then started warping badly on the edges. I switched to using a spray bottle instead of a brush halfway through, and now half the pages are a different shade of brown. Has anyone else dealt with uneven staining from switching application methods, or should I just commit to one tool next time?

Oh man, you really gave that book a coffee bath and then switched it up halfway through like it wouldn't notice. Of course the pages are going to be two different shades, that's like painting half a wall with a roller and finishing with a sponge. Next time pick a method and just stick with it, your Dune deserves better than a weird tan line.
