Spent 4 hours trying to get a clean edge on a stained book page before I realized my craft knife was dull the whole time.

Has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on a simple step just because you skipped checking your blade?

Blew through my last good blade trying to cut a perfect curve in craft foam one time. Thirty minutes of sawing and swearing before I noticed the edge was all torn up. Felt like my hands forgot how to work. Finally swapped the blade and it cut like butter in two seconds flat. Made me want to throw the whole project across the room.

Read something the other day about how craft foam is basically just really dense squishy plastic, and the heat from a dull blade melts it on contact instead of cutting clean. Explains why I've had that exact same experience more times than I care to count. Swapping the blade is the kind of obvious fix you feel stupid for not doing sooner, but you always think "one more pass will do it." Always ends with a ragged edge and a thrown something.
