Spent 4 hours trying to get a clean edge on a deckled edge rebind
I thought I could just sand it down evenly but the pages kept tearing and I ended up having to trim each signature by hand with a craft knife. Has anyone actually found a decent shortcut for this or is it always a pain?

Man I don't know, 4 hours seems like a lot for something that's just gonna sit on a shelf. Like unless you're entering this thing into some bookbinding competition I feel like a little bit of deckle edge showing is fine. I've done maybe 15 or 20 rebinds and for the first few I drove myself crazy trying to get it perfect, then I realized nobody is gonna hold it up to a ruler and measure the edges. The craft knife method is what I still do honestly, it works fine if you keep the blade sharp and change it every 10 pages or so.

Yeah @blairsanchez, did you ever mess up a cut so bad you just threw the book across the room?
