Rant: the spray adhesive that nearly ruined a 60 dollar rebind

Honestly, I see so many posts here showing off painted covers and no one ever warns about the cheap spray adhesive trick. I tried the 3M Super 77 on a custom rebind last month, and it bled straight through the endpapers, left wavy stains on every page near the spine. The real issue is people spray too close or too thick, and then they blame the book cloth instead of their technique. I know it's tempting to save 8 bucks on the off brand, but I'll never touch that stuff again after having to redo the whole thing. Anyone else had a adhesion fail that wrecked a project, or is it just me being clumsy with the nozzle?

Ugh, my buddy Tim swore by the cheap stuff and his whole cover peeled off like a banana skin at a book club meeting!
