Pro tip: I picked spray adhesive over double-sided tape for my page pocket mod

I was working on turning an old hardcover into a hidden storage book (you know, like a secret stash), and I got stuck between using spray adhesive or double-sided tape for attaching the fabric pocket inside. I went with the spray adhesive after watching a few tutorials, and honestly it was a mess at first because I oversprayed onto about 3 pages I didn't want glued. Once I masked everything off with paper, it held way better than tape ever would though. The fabric stays flat and doesn't bubble up near the spine, which tape always did for me on previous projects. Just make sure you let it cure for a full 12 hours before closing the book, or you'll peel your pocket right off. Has anyone else had trouble with adhesive bleeding through thin pages in their builds?

Totally feel you on the overspray mess. I did the exact same thing with a scrapbook project last month, sprayed a whole cloud of adhesive onto a page I meant to keep clean and ended up with a crinkly mess I couldn't undo. Masking everything off with paper is genius but man it's tedious, I spent like 45 minutes just taping up the edges of my book before I even touched the glue can. The 12 hour cure time is a killer too, I know it's worth it but I always get impatient and try to close the book early, then have to redo the whole thing. Your point about the fabric staying flat near the spine is huge though, tape always leaves those little bubbles there and it drives me nuts.

That's always the trade-off with spray stuff isn't it, works great but you gotta prep like crazy or it gets everywhere. I mean, it's kind of like painting a room in your house. You spend all that time taping off the trim and covering the furniture, but the actual painting part is way faster and looks better than using a brush for everything. The masking is just the price you pay for a clean finish. And yeah, letting it cure for the full time is key, I've ruined so many things by rushing that step alone.
