Two years of renting coworking spaces before I realized hostels have better wifi

I spent $600 a month on fancy coworking spots in Medellin until a random guy in a hostel let me use their common area. The wifi was faster and I got to network with actual travelers instead of local office workers. Has anyone else found better connections in random places than paid spaces?

Did you ever test the speed or just assume it was better cause it felt faster?

WAIT you NEVER even tested the speed?! I would have been running speed tests on day one just to prove to myself I wasnt crazy for spending all that cash. I had a similar thing happen in Buenos Aires where I paid for a "professional coworking" spot and the upload speed was 3mbps while the free hostel wifi down the street hit 50. You gotta check those numbers before you commit to paying, seriously.
