Spent a whole afternoon just trying to get a receipt for a visa extension

I needed a stamped receipt from a bank in Chiang Mai for my Thai visa paperwork. The first branch said their system was down, the second didn't do that service, and the third had a two-hour queue. What should have been a 30-minute job turned into a 4-hour hunt across town. How do you guys handle simple but critical admin tasks in new places without losing a day?

My last visa run took three banks and a full panic attack.

Actually, that's not a receipt you need for the visa extension. It's a bank letter. They have to print it on their letterhead and stamp it. A normal deposit slip or ATM receipt won't work. That's probably why the second branch said they didn't do the service. You gotta ask for the specific "proof of funds" letter. Always call ahead to a main branch, ask if they do visa letters in English, and get there right when they open. Saves the whole cross-town chase.

Have you tried asking a hotel concierge or a local expat Facebook group for the exact branch name and desk to go to? In my experience, getting one specific recommendation from someone who's done it saves way more time than calling around blind.
