Showerthought: a hostel roommate in Medellin said my 'slow travel' plan was just fear with a nicer name
Met this guy at a hostel in Medellin two weeks ago who moves cities every 10 days and he asked how long I'd been in my apartment and I said 4 months. He goes, that's not slow travel, that's just living somewhere with extra visas. I said staying put means actual friends, a gym I know, a cafe where they start my order when I walk in, and I get way more work done than when I was hopping around every week. But I gotta admit his point stuck, my Spanish is still bad after 4 months here because everyone at my coworking space speaks English. So now I'm stuck between booking a flight to Buenos Aires and staying another 4 months to actually learn the language. Which one actually makes you a better nomad, moving more or going deeper in one spot?
