Paid $300 for a portable WiFi hotspot and it crapped out in month 2

Lost connection during a client call in a coffee shop in Medellin and the thing just stopped working. Anyone else ditched the gadgets and just use your phone as a hotspot?

lol is it really that big of a deal? I mean yeah that sucks for $300 but phones are pretty good at hotspotting these days. My iPhone handles it fine for emails and light browsing. Unless you're running some crazy upload speed test or something it's probably fine. People act like losing a connection for 5 minutes is the end of the world. Just use your phone and save the cash honestly.

Yeah, "lol is it really that big of a deal" until you're on a Zoom call for work and your hotspot drops out because your phone decided to install an update... Then it's a pretty big deal. I've tried hotspotting for basic stuff and it works fine for like 10 minutes, then it gets laggy or just stops. Plus it murders your phone battery, especially if you're plugged into a laptop. For $300 you can get a proper router that just works for years without worrying about your phone's data cap or overheating.
