I finally realized my 'work from anywhere' setup was costing me too much

For the past two years, I've been bouncing between cafes and co-working spaces in places like Medellin and Lisbon. I just added up my receipts from last month and saw I spent over $350 on daily coffee and day passes. The moment it hit me was when a barista in Budapest knew my order before I even spoke. I was paying a premium just to have a table and WiFi, which felt silly when my apartment had both. Has anyone else found a good middle ground between getting out of the house and not burning through cash on workspace?

Wait you spent $350 in just one month on coffee and day passes... that's honestly crazy to me. I get wanting to leave the house but that's like a car payment. The barista knowing your order is a funny wake up call though. Maybe try going out just two or three days a week instead of every single day? It cuts the cost way down but you still get that change of scenery. I do that and it feels like a treat instead of a normal expensive thing.

You know it's bad when the barista starts giving you that "again?" look, right? My bank account is basically a coffee subscription at this point.

Funny enough, cutting back to three days a week was the game changer for me too. I started buying a bag of decent beans and making my own on the other days, saved me like $40 a month easy. Also found a quiet library spot that's free and lets me bring my own mug, so I still get out of the apartment without the guilt.
