I finally caved and got a dedicated work laptop for nomad life
I always thought carrying one laptop for everything was the way to go as a nomad. But then in Chiang Mai, my main device crashed right before a deadline. I lost hours of work and had to explain to my boss in New York. It was a total mess. A fellow nomad suggested I try a secondhand laptop just for work tasks. I picked one up for a good price, and it changed everything. Now I can focus better without mixing work and personal apps. My work quality improved, and I feel more professional on the go.

Man, that deadline crash story hits way too close to home. I made the same mistake for years, trying to do everything on a single machine. The stress of having your whole digital life in one basket is just not worth it. Splitting work and personal stuff onto separate devices seems like such a simple fix, but it really does make your brain switch gears better. You’re totally right about feeling more professional too. Glad you found a system that works for you without breaking the bank.

Honestly, I used to think I was too cool for two devices until my laptop crashed during a Netflix binge and I lost all my work files. Took me forever to learn that lesson. Now I keep work and personal separate, and my sanity thanks me. It's funny how such a simple change can make you feel like you've got your life together. Still, sometimes I catch myself checking work email on my personal phone, old habits die hard.

Absolutely brutal that it crashed right before talking to your boss in New York, those time zones make it so much worse lol. @troy_murray8 getting taken out by a Netflix binge is a different kind of painful. Splitting devices is such a smart move, losing everything on one machine is a special kind of nightmare.
