A hostel owner in Medellin said 'get the 90 day visa, not the 180' and I'm out $400 because of it
Back in January I was booking my Colombia stay and this guy running a hostel in Poblado said skip the longer visa, just do 90 days and extend later if you like it. I listened, paid for the cheap one, then fell in love with Medellin and had to fly to Panama City for a weekend border run plus a new visa fee. Total damage was around $400 between flights, hostel, and paperwork, and I lost 3 days I could've spent working. Next time I'm just paying for the 180 day visa up front. Has anyone else gotten burned listening to visa advice from someone who's been somewhere way longer than you have?
