Why does nobody talk about color calibration drift on monitors?

Spent 3 hours last night matching skin tones for a commission only to realize my second monitor was 15% off from my main one. Anyone else deal with mismatched colors across devices driving them nuts?

Oh jeez, 15% off? That's brutal. I'd lose my mind if I spent that long matching skin tones and found out my monitor was lying to me. I swear, monitors drift faster than my car's alignment after hitting a pothole. I had a similar panic moment last month where I thought my whites were going yellow, turned out my second monitor just needed a reset. It's like they slowly gaslight you into thinking you're losing your eye for color. Once you notice the difference, it's impossible to unsee it.

Wait, 15% off is actually a confirmed number? That's insane, I figured it was more like 5% or something. I've spent hours tweaking a gradient only to realize my main monitor was shifting 10% warmer than my laptop screen. How do you even calibrate for that without dropping a grand on a colorimeter?
