Watched a gallery in Portland hang my prints next to a window, now I always ask about lighting first
Drove up to Portland for a small showcase at a cafe on Alberta St and the owner hung my canvas prints right where the afternoon sun hits them. Two of the three faded within a week and I had to reprint everything out of my own pocket. Now I ask for a photo of the exact wall before I send any files, does anyone else do a lighting check before a show?
Ugh, been there. I started asking for a phone pic of the wall at the same time of day the show will be up, and if they can't send one I just say no thanks. Saves me a lot of money in reprints.
