Warning: my whole show file got corrupted right before a big submission

I was working on a big piece for a contest last year, maybe 30 hours in, and my Krita file just stopped opening. I was in my old apartment in Austin, and the error message said the data was gone. I freaked out for a solid hour, but then I remembered I had a backup from two days before in a cloud folder. I had to redo a ton of work, but it taught me to save versions with dates in the name. Anyone else have a close call like that with a digital piece?

Three version saves saved my butt after a similar crash, now I do it every 30 minutes.

That sinking feeling is the worst, like your stomach just drops out. Happened to me with a track once, whole project file just ate itself. Cloud saves are a literal lifesaver, no joke. Now I save a new version every single time I open a file, it's a habit. Losing work like that changes you, makes you paranoid in a good way.
