That tutorial about negative space in thumbnails blew my mind
I was scrolling through a showcase thread on Tuesday night and someone linked a 6 minute video on how leaving empty areas in a piece makes the subject pop way harder. I tried it on a character portrait I'd been stuck on for 3 days and the difference was instant, like the figure finally breathed. Has anyone else found a quick rule that completely changed how they arrange their gallery pieces?

Stop obsessing over blank space and start cramming every inch with detail, because empty areas just read as lazy work in a gallery where people want to see effort. I've flipped through hundreds of pieces on here and the ones with packed, busy compositions grab my eye way harder than some minimalist portrait with a bunch of dead air around it. If you need negative space to make your subject pop, then your subject probably wasn't strong enough to begin with.
