Serious question, is high-res art always better for online showcases?
I've been posting my digital paintings to forums for about a year now, and I keep seeing people upload massive 4K files thinking it looks more professional. But I noticed something weird - when I zoom into a lot of these pieces, the brush strokes are this messy clumpy mess that only looks good at 50% size. Last week I put up a piece at 1920x1080 with clean sharp lines, and it got way more engagement than my usual 3000x4000 stuff. On the other hand, my buddy swears by going ultra high-res because he sells prints from the same files. So is there a real middle ground here, or are we all just wasting hard drive space posting giant files that nobody actually opens full screen? What resolution do you guys actually use for your online portfolios?

A buddy of mine downsized all his files and tripled his sales.
