My old drawing teacher in Austin told me to stop zooming in past 100% and I finally get why
Back in 2019 I took a digital painting class at a community spot in Austin and the teacher kept telling us to stop zooming past 100% on our canvas. I ignored her for like 3 years because I thought pixel level detail was what made art look pro. Last month I pulled up an old piece of mine, a portrait I spent 14 hours on, and zoomed out and it looked like mush, all that tiny detail just turned to noise. So I redid the same subject and forced myself to stay at 50 to 100% zoom the whole time, and it came out way cleaner in like 6 hours. She was right and it took me way too long to admit it. Anyone else have a teacher drop a tip that seemed dumb until you tried it way later?
