I always used my phone for quick art references, but my old tablet from 2017 is way better.

The bigger screen on the tablet, even though it's slow, lets me actually see the color gradients I'm trying to match in my digital paintings. Anyone else find that a bigger display, even an old one, makes a huge difference for color work?

Oh totally, my ancient iPad from like 2015 is basically a dedicated color-checker now. It takes a full minute to open a reference photo, but at least I can finally tell if that's burnt sienna or just regular brown mud.

My 2013 laptop still thinks loading a jpeg is a major life event.

Ha, "major life event" - that's exactly what mine acts like too. I've got a 2014 desktop that wheezes for a solid 30 seconds just to render a single photo in Photoshop. It's gotten to the point where I plan my coffee breaks around loading times. I swear that old machine is powered by good intentions and leftover thermal paste at this point.
