Why does nobody warn you about the parts counter at Derringer Truck Supply in Nashville?
I stopped by Derringer Truck Supply off I-40 last Tuesday to grab a set of injector cups for a 6.7 Cummins. The guy behind the counter was nice enough but he gave me the wrong part number without even checking my engine serial number. I got all the way back to the shop, pulled the old cups, and the new ones didn't seat right. Lost about 2 hours of labor and had to drive back across town in rush hour traffic. They swapped them no questions asked but I'm wondering if this is a common thing there or if I just got the new kid. Has anyone else had trouble with them mixing up parts?

Bet your problem was that counter guy didn't pull up the right engine family. Derringer has two different 6.7 Cummins listings in their system, one for the 2013-2018 and another for the 2019+ with the redesigned injector bore. If he just searched by engine size instead of the full CPL number, that's how you end up with cups that look right but won't seat. I watched the same thing happen to a buddy hauling a load back from the race track.

Yeah it's the same thing with parts stores mixing up oil filter threads, everything's way too specific now but nobody checks the details.
