Wasted $400 on a reman injector that was DOA

I bought a remanufactured injector from a place online for my 6.0 Powerstroke back in March. Swapped it in on a Saturday afternoon, fired it up and it was knocking like crazy. Thought maybe I screwed up the install but pulled it back out and the tip was cracked. Company said I had to pay return shipping and a restocking fee since it was 'installed'. So I lost like $80 on shipping and fees plus my whole weekend. Should have just bought a new one from a local shop in Dallas for $150 more. Has anyone else had bad luck with reman parts from those online diesel supply places?

... wait, seriously? I thought I was getting ripped off when my guy charged me $180 extra last month for a reman 5.3. $250 is crazy, I almost don't believe it. Like what shop in Dallas is doing that? I swear some of these places just tack on whatever they feel like once they see your plates aren't from Texas. You gotta watch those "core charge" line items too, sometimes they sneak in a fee for something you already brought back.
