Was reading an old service manual and saw something wild about injector pressures

I was flipping through a 1990s Detroit Diesel manual for a Series 60 engine. On page 47, it said the injector firing pressure could hit over 30,000 psi. I always knew it was high, but seeing that exact number written down made it click. That's more pressure than in some industrial hydraulic presses. Makes you respect those tiny seals a lot more. Has anyone else come across a spec that just seemed crazy high?

Yeah, but isn't that what they're built for? Those specs always sound worse on paper.

Have you ever bought something just because the numbers looked good? I mean, I've definitely fallen for that and ended up with a total brick. Maybe specs are just my personal weakness.

Notice how specs often sound impossible until you see them in action. @diana_harris11 is right about numbers being misleading, but sometimes they just prove how tough things are built. That injector pressure is a good reminder.
