That moment at the Penske lot in Phoenix got me thinking

Walked out back at a Penske depot in Phoenix yesterday. Saw three guys rebuilding a DT466 in the yard. No bay, just dirt and a tarp. They had it torn down to the block in under 4 hours. Impressed me how fast they moved without all the fancy tools. Anybody else ever see a roadside rebuild that actually went smooth?

4 hours to tear a DT466 down to the block on dirt with no bay is wild lol. I've seen a few yard jobs go sideways but that pace is legit impressive. Those guys must have done that exact swap a hundred times before to move that fast.

And honestly I used to be the guy who thought you NEEDED the lifts and the bay and all the diagnostic computers to get anything done right on those motors. But watching these dudes just pop that inline pump off and drop the front cover with a ratchet and a pry bar... yeah that changed my mind. They had the whole fuel rail off before the guy with the fancy shop even would have found his 13mm swivel socket. Makes me wonder how much time I've WASTED overthinking setups when a level patch of dirt and some muscle memory is all you really need.
