Shoutout to the guy who told me my injector timing was off by 3 degrees
I was in Green Bay last fall working on a DT466 and this old school mechanic just watched me for a minute. He goes "son, you're chasing a ghost if you don't check the timing first." I always just threw injectors in and hoped for the best but now I break out the dial indicator every single time. Has anyone else had a simple tip from a stranger save them hours of headache?

60 bucks for a dial indicator set off Amazon saved me a whole weekend on a 5.9 Cummins last month. That little plastic case pays for itself the first time you find that pump gear is a tooth off. I swear half the "bad injector" calls I hear about are just some timing gremlin. Good on that old timer for pointing you straight.

Ehh close but the 5.9 Cummins injection pump is gear driven off the cam, not the crank.
