Shop foreman said he stopped pulling injectors on 6.7s to 'save time' and it cost the shop $4,200
I was at a diesel shop in Amarillo helping a buddy get his truck running when the foreman told me he quit pulling injectors on Ford 6.7s because it was too slow. He said he would just yank the heads with the injectors still in them, save an hour per job. About three trucks later a customer came back with a misfire, and two injector tips had cracked during the pull, dumping fuel into the cylinder. That job turned into new injectors, a piston, and a lot of arguing about who paid for it. Cost the shop $4,200 and a customer. I have always pulled mine first, even when it adds time, and now I feel better about it. Is there any shortcut on 6.7s that actually saves time without risking the injectors?
