Rolled 500,000 miles on my 2006 Ram and the odometer number that got me was 499,999
I was driving back from a job in Amarillo when the odometer on my 5.9 Cummins rolled over half a million miles. The number that stuck with me was 499,999 because I actually pulled over to watch it flip, which my helper thought was ridiculous. What surprised me more was that the truck still fires up on the first crank and the original head gasket is still holding. I have done nothing special beyond oil changes every 5,000 miles, fuel filters on schedule, and keeping the coolant additive topped off. Anybody else hit a big number on a stock motor, and what finally took it out?
My wife would divorce me if I pulled over to watch a number flip on the dash. Then again she says that about most things I do with that truck. Half a million on a stock 5.9 is no joke though, mine is at 280k and I baby it way more than you do.
