Overheard a trucker at the diner complaining his DEF heater failed for the third time this winter in Fargo

Saw a video from a mechanic up in Canada saying the factory DEF heaters are a known weak spot. He said the heating element itself is fine, but the wiring harness connectors corrode and fail. They get a bad connection and just stop working, so replacing the whole unit doesn't even fix it long term.

Man that's brutal, is it just a bad part or is the whole system not set up for that cold? I've heard some of those heaters just can't handle being frozen solid over and over. Bet that's costing him a fortune in downtime and repairs, not to mention getting stuck in Fargo. They really need to make those things more reliable for the guys working in real winter.

Right there with you on that, it is brutal when the gear just isn't built for the conditions these guys actually work in. That whole wiring harness thing sounds like such a pain, a tiny connection failing and costing a guy a whole day or more in a place like Fargo.
