Just realized I hit 500,000 miles on my old Cummins last week
Was going over my logbook for a routine check and noticed the odometer rolled past 500k somewhere between Cheyenne and Laramie. Didn't even catch it at the time because I was too busy dealing with a frozen fuel filter. That engine has outlasted two trucks I've owned and still starts on the first crank in single digit weather. Anyone else lose track of mileage milestones until way after they happen?

That kind of thing happens way more often than you'd think. It's funny how we spend all this time planning for big moments but the really important ones just slip by while we're dealing with some random problem. Reminds me of how folks will miss their kid's first steps because they were looking down at their phone or something. You get so caught up in the day to day grind that life just kind of happens without you noticing the landmarks.

Miles on a truck ain't really the same as watching your kid grow up, that's a bit of a stretch. Frozen fuel filters and cold starts are just part of the job, not some deep life lesson. You're still making money and getting where you need to go, that's all that really matters.
