Hit 10,000 miles on my rebuilt 12-valve and found metal in the pan, but not where I expected

Pulled the pan last Tuesday expecting bearing flakes and instead found a chunk of the old dipstick tube sitting there since the rebuild. Anybody else find leftovers from their own job that scared them worse than an actual failure would have?
