Had a change of heart after stopping at that diesel shop off I-40 in Oklahoma last week

Watched their old mechanic drop an injector cup into a cooling system and fish it out with a magnet on a stick in under 2 minutes, convinced me that working clean isn't just for show, it saves your butt on the clock.

Whoa there, I gotta disagree a bit. I mean sure that's a neat trick with the magnet on a stick but I've seen too many guys get bit by shortcuts like that. Dropping an injector cup into the cooling system means you're already working dirty and hoping you don't mess up the seal or leave metal shavings behind. A clean bench and a proper tool setup would've kept that cup from falling in the first place, you know? That 2 minute save is just luck, not a reason to skip the prep work. I'd rather spend 10 minutes taping off ports than gamble on a magnet fishing trip later.
