Can we talk about injector cups that refuse to come out

Last month I was working on a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia out in Odessa, Texas and those injector cups were like welded in place. I spent a solid 3 hours just trying to get the first one loose with my slide hammer and it barely budged. Finally I had to bust out the torch and heat the head up to 400 degrees before it even thought about moving. My coworker Dave just stood there laughing saying I shoulda used Kroil overnight but I didn't have that kind of time. The whole job that should've taken 5 hours turned into a 9 hour nightmare because of three stuck cups. Has anyone else had luck with a specific method for removing stubborn injector cups without damaging the cylinder head?

Jump right into soaking everything first. It's like the whole world runs on that principle. You see it with rusted bolts, stuck lug nuts, even a stubborn jar lid. People skip the patience step and end up fighting things for way longer than needed. But that overnight soak or a little heat lets the physics do the work for you. Same with those cups. Taking the extra time up front saves you from the headache later.

Funny you mention Kroil, cause I used to think that stuff was overhyped until I had a set of cups that wouldn't budge on a Detroit 60 series. Left a good soak overnight and they came out easier than I expected the next morning. Still had to use some heat but it wasn't the hours-long fight I was used to.
