A 3 year old Cummins ISX taught me to never trust a shop's 'full service' claim

Last week in Knoxville, a guy brought his rig to me after a big shop said they did a full service. He had a rough idle and low power. I pulled the fuel filters and found one was the original factory part, dated over three years back. The 'full service' invoice listed new filters and a charge of $450 for parts and labor. I showed him the date code and he went back to them, but they just said it was a 'paperwork error'. How can you miss something that basic? Has anyone else seen shops get away with billing for work they clearly didn't do?

Seen that before. They bank on people not checking the work. Makes you want to do everything yourself.

Right? It's exhausting.
