PSA: My old TomTom GPS is now a $0 paperweight and I kinda miss getting lost
My TomTom Go 720 from 2007 finally stopped getting map updates around 2012, so plugging it in now just gives me a sad screen that says no satellites found. Back in the day I would punch in an address and trust it, but now I use my phone like everyone else and somehow I end up more lost because I follow the blue dot instead of reading the road. I tried loading a homemade map file from some forum in Berlin, and after 3 attempts it froze on a highway exit for Cheyenne, Wyoming that does not exist anymore. Honestly the weirdest part is I still keep it in the glovebox like a lucky charm. Has anyone here managed to keep an old nav unit alive with custom maps, or should I just let it go?
