My old Palm PDA finally gave up, and I found a second life for it

Last Tuesday I was cleaning out a drawer and pulled out my Palm Tungsten E2, the one I used for years before smartphones took over. It still had my old contacts and a few games, so I thought I'd fire it up for fun. The screen worked but the battery swelled up and the back popped off, which scared me a little. I looked online and found a guy in Ohio who sells replacement batteries for these old units, only $9 plus shipping. I ordered one, watched a 20 minute YouTube video, and swapped it out in about 15 minutes with a tiny screwdriver. Now it holds a charge for a week and I use it as a dedicated e-reader for public domain books, no distractions. Has anyone else revived an old device like this, or do you just let them go to the recycler? It felt good to save it, even if the software is ancient.

Man, I can barely change the batteries in my TV remote without screwing something up... so you're basically a wizard in my book. Congrats on the second life for that old pal, even if it's just to read books from a hundred years ago.
