My Creative Nomad Zen Xtra died at O'Hare in 2011 and I still can't find software that talks to it

Those old Nomad drives show up as a plain USB mass storage device if you put it in recovery mode. Hold the power button while plugging it in and Windows should just see it like a thumb drive.
