I called the guy who repairs Game Gears a waste of $40, then mine sat dead in a drawer for 3 years
Three years ago I found my old Game Gear in my parents' basement in Rochester and it powered on but the screen was all lines, so I looked up a repair guy charging $40 and laughed it off. I told everyone it was dumb to pay that much when you could just buy another used one on eBay for $25. Last week I pulled it out again and the thing wouldn't even turn on at all, so I mailed it to the same guy, Don, and he fixed the caps and the screen for $55. It came back working better than the one I bought to replace it and now I feel silly for waiting. Anyone else sitting on a dead handheld they keep meaning to send out, or am I the only one who waits until it fully dies first?

That bit about telling everyone it was dumb to pay $40 hits close to home, because I did the same thing with a dead Game Boy Advance SP for like two years. Mine's still in the drawer, so at least you actually got yours fixed.
