Vent: I chose to explore Edgewood Mall alone instead of with the big group.
Everyone says you always need a group for safety, but I went solo to that old Edgewood Mall in Ohio last Saturday and honestly got way better photos without 15 people blocking the food court. Has anyone else had a better time creeping through an abandoned anchor store by yourself?

Wait, did that place still have the giant fountain in the middle of the food court when you went alone? I've been there twice with groups and it was chaos, everyone yelling about floor stability and trying to get the same shot of the escalator. Going solo sounds like a dream honestly, you can actually hear the place and focus on details instead of dodging tripods. Security is more likely to pass by a quiet person with a camera anyway, groups just draw attention. Good call on the solo run, way more genuine photos that way.

Oh yeah the fountain was still there, totally dry though. I walked past it and you could see gum and coins in the bottom, pretty gross actually. The food court chairs were all stacked up on tables, gave off serious liminal space vibes. I took a few shots of the fountain from above on the second floor and it came out looking like a giant empty swimming pool. Groups are way too loud for that spot, solo is the only way to really catch the mood.
